  Although EN 61108-1 is an applicable EU standard for GPS, it is not connected to any EU Directive. However, products intended for sale within the European Union are to be marked with a CE Mark, which indicates compliance to applicable Directives and European Normes (EN). The following criteria might apply to determine the applicable standards for compliance purposes.

   Where will the GPS system be applied? In other words, what is its host?

The host will determine the applicable directives, which will then determine the applicable harmonized standards. Take the ITE host. The following standards are applicable.

   EMC
   EN 55022

   Safety
   EN 60950
